Updating Records in APNIC Whois Database

The APNIC Whois Database is an important source of reference for the Internet community as it contains information such as the Internet number registrations, routing, and abuse contacts etc.

Some ISPs filter IP addresses with invalid registration and contact details and maintain blacklists of networks with invalid whois information. There, we encourage network operators to update whois registration records accordingly to ensure that the registry information is accurate and up to date.

Resources managed under an APNIC account

If you need to update records for the Internet resources managed under your APNIC account, you can update them via MyAPNIC. If the resources are to be transferred to another organization, please refer to the APNIC transfer page for more information on how records can be updated.

Registering your sub delegations in the APNIC Whois Database

  1. Login to MyAPNIC.
  2. Go to : Home –> Resources –> Whois is updates –> Add –> Object Type : inetnum/inet6num.
  3. Select Public (visible to public via whois database) or Private (visible to your account contacts via MyAPNIC).
  4. Fill the template with the preferred information. (Note that you cannot make a sub delegation as the same size as the parent block. They have to be smaller.)
