Pre-approval for resource transfers
Pre-approved transfers
APNIC permits the transfer of IPv4 addresses as directed by the APNIC transfer, merger, acquisition and takeover policy. This policy prescribes conditions which the source and recipient must meet. In particular, the recipient must demonstrate the need for the resources according to APNIC policies.
Pre-approval requests
Using MyAPNIC, recipients seeking resources may request pre-approval. This allows APNIC to evaluate the recipient account’s needs for IPv4 before any source of transfer is located.
The recipient is assured of receiving transfer approval for a pre-determined amount of addresses once they have located a source of transfer.
Once the pre-approval is granted, the recipient account can receive an IPv4 address transfer without additional needs justification, where the source of the transfer is available and the size of the transfer is within the approval.
Subsequent pre-approvals
The recipient can lodge a subsequent new pre-approval request before any transfer is initiated by any source account, but if approved, this new pre-approval will override the existing request.
Sources of transfers
A source account can initiate a transfer to the recipient at any time. It must obtain the recipient’s account name and initiate the transfer process.Length of pre-approvals
Pre-approvals are valid for 12 months from the approval date.
- The recipient will be notified by email of the expiry date
- A reminder email will be sent to the recipient one month before the expiry
Transfer process
- The recipient account needs to acknowledge the transfer within 30 days after it is initiated by the source account, or the transfer request will be cancelled.
- The recipient account will be responsible for the addresses transferred and the transfer may affect fees when the recipient account is renewed.
- The approved transferred resources will appear on the transfer log available on the APNIC public website.
