APNIC fee structure from 1 January 2010

Fees 2010

As of 1 January 2010, APNIC Members will pay yearly fees calculated on the total IP addresses they hold under their membership account on the anniversary of their APNIC Membership.

What's new?

  • Membership fees are now calculated using a continuous, logarithmic formula
  • Annual membership fees incorporate both current and historical/legacy address space
  • Members from Least Developed Countries (LDC) will have their annual membership fees discounted by 50%
  • NIR and Confederation Members will pay an additional premium of 190% over and above their annual membership fees.

Fee calculations

APNIC provides an automatic calculator in MyAPNIC to assist with fee estimation.

Members holding only IPv4 address space

A Member's total IPv4 address holding will be used to calculate the annual membership fee. The fees will be calculated using a continuous formula.

Using the formula, address holdings are expressed as the total count of individual IPv4 addresses (/32).

For example, a /16 and a /18 would constitute a total of 81,920 IPv4 addresses. The formula for IPv4 address holdings is:

Feev4 = 1180x1.3(log2(Addresses)-8)

Note:
  • The minimum annual fee is AUD 1180
  • Experimental allocations of IPv4 addresses are not included in the assessment of total address holdings
  • AS numbers are not included in the fee calculation

Members holding only IPv6 address space

A Member's total IPv6 address holding will be used to calculate the IPv6 part of the annual membership fee. The fees will be calculated using a continuous formula.

With the continuous formula, address holdings are expressed as the total of IPv6 end-site addresses (/56).

For example, a holding of a /31 would constitute 33,554,432 end-site addresses. The formula for IPv6 address holdings is:

Feev6 = 1180x1.3(log2(Addresses)-22)

Note:
  • The minimum annual fee is AUD 1180
  • Experimental allocations of IPv6 addresses are not included in the assessment of total address holdings
  • AS numbers are not included in the fee calculation

Members holding both IPv4 and IPv6 address space

For Members holding both IPv4 and IPv6 address space, the IPv4 and IPv6 holdings are assessed separately. The annual membership fee is then charged as the greater of these two calculations.

Members holding no IP address space

Members who do not hold any IPv4 or IPv6 addresses will pay an annual membership fee of AUD 675.

Note:
  • Members who pay the annual membership fee of AUD 675 may hold AS numbers, or Experimental IPv4/IPv6 address space. See Associate Members

Other fees

Fees (AUD) Description
IP Resource Application Fee 3,500

A Member's first address allocation request is subject to a one-off IP Resource Application fee of AUD 3500.

The following services are exempt from the IP Resource Application fee:

  • Critical infrastructure assignments
  • Experimental allocations
  • IXP assignments
  • AS numbers
  • Historical resource transfers
Members of LDCs will receive a 50% discount on this fee.
Membership Reactivation Fee 2,700

APNIC will close a Member's account for non-payment of membership fees. To reactivate the account, Members will have to pay a reactivation fee in addition to payment of any outstanding fees.

This option is only available for three months after membership termination.

Members of LDCs will receive a 50% discount on this fee.

An organization that opts to not reactivate their account, but still wishes to continue using APNIC resources is required to open a new membership and reapply for all resources needed. In this case, network renumbering will be necessary.

Non-member account holders

For those organizations that for any reason cannot become a member of APNIC, a Non-Member agreement is available. For the fees associated with these accounts, see the APNIC Non-Member Fee Schedule.

Least Developed Countries (LDCs)

The list of LDCs used for the purposes of this fee discount is defined and maintained by the United Nations Statistics division.

The discount will be applied according to the LDC status of the Member's economy as at the date of their membership renewal.
