How much does it cost?
APNIC does not sell Internet resources such as IP addresses. Instead, resources holders are granted the right to use these public resources. However, APNIC charges administration fees to assist in the management of this resource and the provision of services it provides the community.
Annual Member fees
All members pay a yearly membership fee according to their membership tier. All fees are charged in Australian Dollars (AUD).

| Membership tier | Fees (AUD) | IPv4 address space | IPv6 address space |
|---|---|---|---|
| Associate | 792 | None | None |
| Very small | 1,584 | Up to & including /22 | Up to & including /35 |
| Small | 3,169 | > /22, up to & including /19 | > /35, up to & including /32 |

| Very large | 23,352 | > /13, up to & including /10 | > /26, up to & including /23 |
| Extra large | 50,704 | > /10 | > /23 |
- There is no limit to the number of ASNs for any of the membership tiers.
- For Members holding both IPv4 and IPv6 address space, the membership tier is assessed separately for IPv4 and IPv6 as above. The Member's effective membership tier is then assessed as the larger of these. More details on the membership tiers and benefits to Members are available in the APNIC Fee Schedule.
- Australian organizations are required to pay GST (Goods and Services Tax) on all APNIC fees.
Other fees
Note: There is an annual AU$127 fee for accounts held to maintain historical resources only. This fee is not applicable to APNIC members.

IPv4 address space
For an allocation of IPv4 address space the total per-address fee is calculated according to the total number of addresses actually allocated.
For example, the total fee payable for an allocation of /17 to a Very Large member is calculated as: 32,768 x AUD 0.038 = AUD 1,245.18.
In the case of an allocation that includes a previously allocated block of addresses, only the addresses additionally allocated are included in the total fee calculation.
The minimum per-address fee payable for any allocation or assignment of IPv4 address space is equal to the fee payable for a minimum IPv4 address allocation.
IPv6 address space
For an allocation of IPv6 address space, the total per-address fee is calculated for the prefix allocated according to the number of addresses which should be utilized according to an HD-Ratio of 0.8.
- For more about the calculation of HD-ratio, see IPv6 address allocation and assignment policy.
The following table provides utilization information for selected prefixes from /32 to /29 for an HD-ratio of 0.8:
| Membership tier |

21619 |
| /29 |

For example the total per-address fee payable for an allocation of /30 to a Very Large member is calculated as: 21,619 x AUD 0.038 = AUD 821.52.
In the case of an allocation which includes a previously allocated block of addresses, the total fee calculation is based on the difference in the number of addresses utilized between the previous allocation and the new allocation.
The minimum per-address fee payable for any allocation or assignment of IPv6 address space is equal to the fee payable for a /32 allocation (7,132 utilized addresses).
For example the total per-address fee payable for an allocation of /30 including previous /32 to a Very Large member is calculated as: (21,619-7,132) x AUD 0.038 = AUD 550.51.
Note:
- The number of /48s for /32 under HD ratio 0.8: 7132
- The number of /48s for /30 under HD ratio 0.8: 21619
IPv6 special conditions
For NIR members, the IPv6 per address fee is discounted by 90% for allocation of IPv6 address space to existing IPv4 infrastructure.
For ISP confederation members, a single pool of IPv6 address space must be maintained and per address fees are therefore not payable for IPv6 allocations.
