This page is for speakers at APNIC and APRICOT conferences. It provides general information that applies across events in the series. You’ll find guidance on what to expect, how to get ready, and where to find event-specific details.

Speaker journey overview

This section outlines what to expect once your talk has been accepted. It applies to both APNIC and APRICOT conferences.

  1. Confirmation: You’ll receive an email confirming your talk has been accepted.
  2. Registration: Speakers receive a complimentary conference pass. You still need to register using the link provided in your confirmation email.
  3. Speaker bio: Confirm or create your speaker bio, and add a photo of yourself.
  4. Travel and accommodation: You are responsible for booking your own travel and accommodation. Each event will provide local recommendations.
  5. Slide finalization: You prepared draft slides as part of your proposal submission. Now is the time to get them ready to present.
  6. Rehearsal: Practice your talk before you arrive as there is no formal rehearsal on site.
  7. Upload slides: Upload your slides 48 hours before the event through the speaker upload portal. Maximum file size: 40MB. Allowed file types: .pdf, .ppt, .pptx, .odp, .keynote
  8. Presentation: Present your talk during your scheduled session.
  9. After the event: Recordings and PDF slides will be published online. You’ll be invited to complete a short feedback survey.

Speaking and presentation tips

This section helps you prepare your presentation.

Slide preparation

  • Use a 16:9 aspect ratio.
  • Keep slides simple and clear.
  • Use pictures and diagrams to explain ideas.
  • Use examples to support your points.

During your talk

  • Don’t read your slides word-for-word.
  • Speak clearly and at a steady pace.
  • Pause between key points.
  • Avoid jargon when possible.

Logistics

Venue details will be available on the conference website. Your session time will be sent to you in an email — check the official event program to confirm that it matches what is in the email. If you are presenting remotely, special instructions will be sent to you in an email.

Each session room will have a projector, screen, microphone, and timer. A laptop will be provided for all presentations. Personal laptops are not allowed. Speaker coordinators and AV staff will be available to assist during the conference.
