Volunteer with the APNIC Fellowship programs

Do you work in the Internet industry in the Asia Pacific region? Are you looking for opportunities to uplift early-to-mid career professionals who are passionate about building a stronger, more resilient Internet?

The APNIC Fellowship and Policy Fellowship programs are strengthened by contributions from leaders in the Internet community. APNIC is seeking community volunteers from across the Asia Pacific contribute to the 2026 Fellowship program. With a limited number of places available, we offer two ways to contribute.

fs mentors

Volunteers on the Fellowship selection committee use their experience and perspective to help us identify the best candidates for the APNIC Fellowship Programs. Mentors volunteer their time and wisdom to provide one-on-one support and guidance to Fellows.

Selection committee: What’s involved

APNIC Fellowships are competitive, and will receive lots of applications. We need your help picking the strongest ones.

As a volunteer on the 2026 APNIC Fellowship selection committee, you’ll review applications to the 2026 APNIC Fellowship program. You’ll receive practical guidance and a streamlined process to help you make decisions. APNIC Staff will manage the process, letting you focus on identifying the best applications.

The total time commitment will be up to five hours, between mid-March and mid-April 2026. That time will be spent either reviewing applications, or collaborating on calls with other committee members.

To join the selection committee, you must:

  • Reside in the Asia Pacific region.
  • Have attended at least one APNIC conference (including APRICOT conferences) within the last five years.
  • Have relevant experience in your professional or community field.
  • Be able to review written applications and apply assessment criteria fairly.
  • Commit to confidentiality, impartiality, and respectful decision‑making.
  • Clear and constructive communication skills.
  • Participate in a transparent and inclusive selection process.

Mentoring Fellows: What’s involved

This option is for current Internet leaders who want to take a more hands-on role shaping the fellowship experience of the up and comers.

You’ll be paired with an APNIC 2026 Fellow. We’ll equip you with guiding tips and practical support as you and your mentee get started. Ultimately, we will depend on your wisdom and creativity.

The time commitment is flexible and can be shaped by you and your mentee, depending on what works best for both of you. That time will be spent meeting regularly with your mentee, including some preparation time, and some interaction in between mentoring sessions.

To be a mentor, you must:

  • Reside in the Asia Pacific region.
  • Have experience in your professional or community field that you’re comfortable sharing with a mentee.
  • Build a supportive and positive mentoring relationship.
  • Communicate clearly, listen actively, and offer constructive guidance.
  • Commit to confidentiality and creating a safe, inclusive environment.
  • Shape the mentoring engagement in collaboration with your mentee.

What you’ll gain from volunteering

You’ll influence the next generation of Internet leadership in our region, and contribute to a global, open, stable, and secure Internet that serves the entire Asia Pacific community.
