2026 Fellowship Program
APNIC is offering a limited number of Fellowships to individuals from Emerging or Developing economies in the APNIC service region. Successful applicants will participate in an online, project-based learning program and attend the APNIC 62 conference in Mumbai, India in September 2026.
The 2026 APNIC Fellowship Program includes funded travel to Mumbai. Fellows must be available to attend the conference in person.
APNIC values diversity and is committed to building an inclusive and representative Internet community. By bringing together people from a wide range of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, the Fellowship helps strengthen the Internet ecosystem across the Asia Pacific.
How to apply
Go to the APNIC Fellowship Management System and make a submission between 27 February and 13 March 2026. You’ll need an APNIC account to apply, register if you don’t have one already.
Who the Fellowship is for
This program is designed for early to mid career professionals in the APNIC region who are passionate about building a stronger, more resilient Internet. It suits individuals looking to grow their technical skills, expand their professional networks, and become active contributors to APNIC and the wider Internet community.
Three Fellowship categories are available: Youth, Professional, and Masters.

Program design — Project-based learning
The 2026 APNIC Fellowship program runs over five months and is designed to help participants build key skills in Internet operations, gain hands-on experience with Internet leaders, and build their industry and career profile.
The 2026 Fellowship introduces dynamic project-driven learning approach. Fellows will mix ‘learning by doing’ and knowledge exchange with subject matter experts (SMEs), to develop practical skills, and deliver a tangible outcome.
The project themes may include developing capacity building skills (train-the-trainer), building technical learning environments (labs set up), increasing the security of the Internet, and network implementations for specific use cases (conference network operations).
Program commitment
Fellows agree to:
- Participate in the five-month project-based learning program
- Commit up to 18 hours to working on their projects, including taking part in online, self-paced, and instructor-led learning.
- Complete 80% of the project-based learning program to be eligible to attend APNIC 62.
- Present their project as guided by their project SME.
- Submit a post-fellowship report and complete the fellowship survey within two weeks of program conclusion.
- Subscribe to the Policy SIG and apnic-talk mailing lists.
- Be available to travel to APNIC 62 in Mumbai, India in from 3 to Sep 10, 2026 attend the conference and relevant social events.
Fellows are encouraged to:
- Participate in the Policy SIG mailing list to continue to engage with the discussions.
- Subscribe to the APNIC Academy mailing list to keep up to date with local face-to-face and online training activities.
- Share your experience and knowledge with your colleagues, students, and management.
- Participate in the local NOG, Internet governance and/or other related ICT events.
- Participate in APNIC social media discussions where appropriate—Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

Successful applicants will receive:
Learning program
- A customised, project-based learning experience delivered in small groups led by APNIC SMEs.
- Opportunities to learn from community guest SMEs through knowledge exchange sessions.
- Complimentary registration for one of the conference workshops.
- Complimentary registration to the conference.
- Complimentary access to all associated social events.
- A certificate of achievement.
Travel support
- Return economy-class airfare to the workshop and/or conference week.
- Twin-share hotel accommodation with breakfast.
- A cash allowance (AUD 100–150) for incidental expenses.
- Briefings daily, or as-required.

- Submitting an application does not guarantee selection.
