ISP Services Workshop

This workshop will present an outline of the core Internet technologies and functions, through a discussion of the phases and requirements involved in ISP Service offerings. The course aims to provide a consolidated overview of Internet operations, and it is a pathway to more advanced and specialized topics presented in other tutorials such as IPv6, Routing, DNS, and Security.

Who should attend?

The course is designed for network engineers, systems administrators, and anyone who is involved in managing ISP services and operations.

Prerequisites

It is assumed that participants have a good understanding of networking fundamentals.

  • Internet and TCP/IP concepts
  • Design considerations for your ISP network
  • Address management policies and the role of the Internet registries
  • Routing in the global Internet
  • Peering, transit and Internet Exchanges (IXs)
  • DNS operations
  • Basic security
  • The future: IPv6
It is highly recommended that participants bring their own laptop computers (At least Pentium 4, 1gb Ram, DVD drive, with administrative access to system) to practice the lessons learned during the workshops.
