Database cleanup project
In the Database SIG at APNIC 15, consensus was given to establish a project to clean up the APNIC Whois database.
Action items
The project has three actions:1. | Remove resource records outside APNIC maintained ranges | APNIC maintained ranges include allocations made by IANA and records to be transferred to APNIC as part of the ERX project. |
2. | Remove records not referenced by valid APNIC Internet resources | This includes contact person, role, and maintainer objects. |
3. | Update records that are not RPSL compliant |
To minimise disruption and to keep APNIC members informed of the progress, the APNIC Secretariat will:

Motivation
This project is created to maintain the three most important attributes of the APNIC Whois database:1. | Quality | APNIC Whois database must contain correct data |
2. | Performance | Unused objects creates unnecessary burden to the server |
3. | Usability | RPSL non-compliant historical data cannot be updated to reflect the resource holder's current contact and maintainer information |
