The benefits of working at APNIC
Remuneration, reward and recognition

APNIC conducts performance reviews every six months, during which time you and your manager discuss your role requirements, objectives, and professional development aspirations.
Salaries are reviewed as part of the annual review process, which is on your anniversary of joining APNIC. Our remuneration framework is based on the Hay Group International methodology of job evaluation and salary data. Remuneration rates are market related and the Hay methodology ensures consistency and fairness across the organization.
We encourage staff to use the Internet outside of working hours for their own research and enjoyment, and so provide an allowance to subsidize broadband connections for our staff at home.
As an incentive for staff to ensure a healthy work-life balance, we offer an extra 15% of your ordinary pay whenever you take leave.
Professional development

On commencement at APNIC, you will have Induction training in order to become familiar with our business and the Internet community we serve.
We have an in-house training programme whereby we offer a range of courses at APNIC premises, for the benefit of all staff members. These are both technical and non-technical courses and are open to all staff members. We also provide English language coaching where relevant.
We have a commitment to external training which enables our staff to attend courses and conferences relevant to their professions, both locally and interstate or internationally.
APNIC offers a Study Assistance Programme, whereby eligible staff members who wish to pursue post-graduate study in their own time are subsidized financially, may be granted study leave for exam purposes.
Our regular staff and team meetings are also an opportunity to stay informed and to learn from one another.
Migration and cultural diversity

For certain positions within APNIC, we are able to provide Sponsorship and migration assistance to applicants from outside of Australia.
For eligible roles, this includes migration agency services, all visa and medical costs, travel, shipping and temporary accommodation costs, private medical cover, and settling in services. This is usually arranged under the provisions of a Subclass 457 Visa, and is negotiated at the time of employment.
At APNIC we are proud of having a very diverse staff complement.
Current nationalities at APNIC include
Australian, Bangladeshi, Bosnian, British, Chinese, Colombian, Filipino, German, Indian, Indonesian, Japanese, Malaysian, Mexican, Papua New Guinean, New Zealand, Singaporean, South African, Sri Lankan, Taiwanese, and Thai.
Health and wellbeing

We are committed to providing a healthy and safe work environment, as well as promoting a balance between work and leisure/family.
We have some facilities available for the enjoyment of staff, which include: a fully equipped kitchen, a mini-gym, bicycle racks, a pool table, showers, electronic games, and a modest library. We arrange yoga classes and massage services (self-funded but held at work for your convenience).
We also provide fresh fruit, a snack and noodle bar, and a range of beverage options.
Particularly for staff who travel, we offer pre- and post- travel medical services, and time off after long trips for your recovery. We also offer influenza vaccinations annually.
We have a fully fledged Workplace Health and Safety team who ensure our legal safety requirements are met and that the environment is not only safe, but comfortable. We have a selection of ergonomic aids such as backrests, wrist pads and footrests for our staff.
We are able to provide Employee Assistance in the form of counselling, mediation or career transition services where applicable.
Flexible working arrangements for staff, where business operations allow, includes secure remote data access to all work related information and systems from a remote location/home.
We create opportunities for informal staff interactions by holding regular staff functions and lunches. For example, we share culinary delights from around the world every quarter, play cricket or go out for a formal dinner at the end of the year.
Environmental awareness

APNIC is committed to environmentally considerate practices and we have a program called ecoAPNIC, started and driven by APNIC staff.
For more information on this program, and how you can get involved, please visit ecoAPNIC to find out more.
Professional conduct

At APNIC, we have a Work Culture Statement which was compiled by staff members in order to define our Work Culture more clearly.
Furthermore, we have a Code of Conduct which guides our behaviour inside the organization as well as when we engage with the public. We also have APNIC Rules of Engagement, which is a proactive list of hints in managing the way we interact with one another. These are clearly explained during induction training and are actively promoted by our managers and staff.
