DNS workshop

Course description

The Domain Name System (DNS) is a critical Internet infrastructure and the largest distributed Internet directory service. DNS translates names to IP addresses and controls Internet email delivery. To guarantee the availability of Internet services, it is important for networking professionals to understand the DNS concepts, configuration and operations.

Who should attend?

This course is designed for network engineers, network planners, systems administrators, and anyone who is involved in administering Network Operation Centres.

It is assumed that participants will have a good understanding of networking fundamentals.

Course length

2 days, but may vary depending on individual course requirements and arrangements.

Objectives

Provide the participants with technical information on DNS concepts, configuration, operations, and security.

  • BIND (DNS Server) and Resolver (DNS Client) configurations
  • Setting up domains
  • DNS debugging tools, troubleshooting & techniques
  • Reverse DNS
  • RNDC & TSIG

Workshop includes lab exercises and hands-on testing sessions.
