Updating and deleting objects in the APIRR

Updating objects

  1. Query the APIRR and copy the existing object.
  2. Make the necessary changes to the object.
  3. Submit the modified object to auto-irr@irr.apnic.net.
  4. You will then receive a reply from auto-irr@irr.apnic.net informing you that the submission succeeded. Check your changes.
  5. The modified object will be visible immediately in the APIRR.

Deleting objects

Circumstances where you must delete a existing route object:

  • You are changing ISPs and need to change the origin AS (Home AS) for your route
  • You are no longer using a particular route prefix
  • You are moving to a larger aggregate and want to delete a more specific prefix

To delete an object from the APIRR:

  1. Query the APIRR and copy the existing object.
  2. Add a line at the end of the object to be deleted using the following format:
  3. delete: <your email address> <reason for the deletion>

    Do not change any the object in any other way.

    To delete more than one object, add a delete field to each object and separate each object by a blank line.

    Example:

    route:   202.137.181/24
    descr:   SPARKYNET
    origin:  AS64512
    mnt-by:  MAINT-AS64512-WF
    changed: kxander@sparkynet.com.wf 20000525
    source:  APIRR
    delete:  zulrich@sparkynet.com.wf prefix no longer used  
    
    route:   202.137.182/24
    descr:   SPARKYNET
    origin:  AS64512
    mnt-by:  AS0-MNT
    changed: kxander@sparkynet.com.wf 20000525
    source:  APIRR
    delete:  zulrich@sparkynet.com.wf prefix no longer used
    
  4. Submit the object to auto-irr@irr.apnic.net.net.
