RIPE NCC and ARIN lead global ASN distribution due to their market maturity. In comparison, APNIC, LACNIC, and AfriNIC, which have relatively “young” markets, have shown consistent and steady growth over the last few years. Also, a large number of autonomous systems listed under the ARIN registry include a component of historical assignments made before the RIR system was established.
APNIC has delegated over 5000 ASNs with over 700 allocated in 2008 alone.
