Annual Reports

Annual reports are presented at each APNIC Annual Member Meeting. These reports contain information on Internet resource distribution, APNIC operations and infrastructure, membership, and financial statements.

APNIC 2010 Operational Plan Objectives:

The results of the APNIC 2009 Membership and Stakeholder Survey highlighted areas APNIC should prioritize for future growth as an organization. The IPv6 Readiness Survey results indicated that IPv6 deployment is gaining momentum throughout the region. APNIC reports on the expansion of training activities, updates on IPv6 deployment and enhanced Member Services.

APNIC celebrated the 10 year anniversary of its relocation to Brisbane, Queensland. Reporting on several service improvements including the Resource Certification system and the launch of the IPv6 Program, APNIC reported it was working on Business Continuity and disaster recovery programs as well as continuing to invest heavily in the Asia Pacific community.

Aside from the operational and service oriented developments; there were two major issues which concerned the APNIC community during 2007. The first is the internal matter of APNIC's fee structure and the second major issue, the increasing global concern over the future of the remaining IPv4 address space and transition to IPv6.

2006 saw the restructure of the APNIC Secretariat for more effective delegation and decisions making. The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) emerged as a major new part of the Internet landscape; and Resource consumption was a hot topic.

2005 saw the launch of live chat services on the Helpdesk; extended Helpdesk hours and a lot of significant improvements were made to internal systems (eg., Remote access to Open Policy Meetings). Additional root servers were launched; and APNIC made great gains in the quality of other external communications.

2004 saw the APNIC Secretariat continue to operate a balanced budget which grew by approximately 28 % over the previous year. Activities steadily increased as shown by the growth in membership, resource allocations and training provided.

In 2003 training services expaned; the Policy development process improved; Number Resource Organization was established; Root server mirrors were deployed and MyAPNIC had new features introduced.

2001 saw founding members recognised, the membership structure expanding; APNIC exceeding RIPE NCC IPv4 allocations; the launch of APster and the new APNIC web site. A major growth area for APNIC this year was the collection of online services, primarily the Whois and reverse DNS servers used in the Internet community worldwide.

1997 was a year of very significant change within APNIC. APNIC experienced growth by 75% in terms of membership and over 30% in terms of resources allocated. This report characterizes this growth and details APNIC's responses in light of the additional requirements imposed by its rapid expansion.
