The wrong answers to the wrong questions? Policy priorities for the maturing Internet

Tuesday 22 February, 16:00-17:30

Abstract

Technology and policy coexist in an uneasy relationship. Technology practitioners reject intrusion and fear regulations that are out of touch with technical reality. At the same time, policy-makers eye the technology community with suspicion, awaiting technology innovations that throw their policy strategies into disarray.

This discussion session aims to help bridge this gap by asking for the views of technology practitioners in the Asia Pacific on the policy needs and priorities for emerging Internet technologies and technical challenges.

Intended audience

Technology practitioners and regulators are invited to an informal discussion of these and any other issues.

Note: This session is free of charge to all APRICOT 2005 attendees.

Facilitators

The session is proposed by UNDP's Asia Pacific Development Information Programme (APDIP) as part of its promotion of an Open Regional Dialogue on Internet Governance.
