Hello Andy,Thanks for your interest in the APNIC budget - it's a good question that you raise.
APNIC has previously considered setting fees in Australian dollars; however, it has been decided not to do so for two main reasons:
1. Many banks in the region cannot perform transfers in Australian dollars; however, all banks in the region can do transfers in US dollars.
2. The value of the US dollar generally fluctuates less than that of the Australian dollar, which means that the actual cost of the fees will generally be more predictable for most members.
Regards,
Irene

I'm guessing that a large portion of APNIC's costs are in Australian dollars e.g. staff, accomodation, travel etc. and will remain that way while APNIC is based in Brisbane. Is there some compelling reason not to levy fees in AU$? _______________________________________________ Wg-apnic-fees mailing list Wg-apnic-fees@apnic.net http://mailman.apnic.net/mailman/listinfo/wg-apnic-fees
