"Information Technology and the Digital Divide" is the title of the
recently released "Journalism Asia 2003", a unique publication about
the press in the Asian context and journalism as experienced by the
communities in the region. The issue was published by the Manila
based Centre for Media Freedom and Responsibility, with UNESCO's
support.
Most of the articles included in Journalism Asia's 2003 edition were
presented by leading communication academics and journalists during
the Journalism Asia Forum held in Bali, Indonesia from February 20-
22, 2003. The bear direct connection with the 2003 World Summit on
the Information Society.
The issue also contains folios on "Global News for the Local Market";
"Media and Terrorism"; "Counter-Terrorism and Human Rights"; "Dealing
with Fundamentalism and Cultural Diversity", and "Attacks Against
Journalists".
Journalism Asia is an annual publication that reports on the current
issues and themes in the Asian press. It gives updates and
developments affecting the press and the emerging concerns of the
media in the region.
