VENKATACHALAM: Ushering in a new era in rural empowerment, ‘Cyber
Gramin,’ aimed at providing IT benefit to rural people, was launched
by BJP President M Venkaiah Naidu at this tiny village, 15 km from
Nellore in Andhra Pradesh.

Naidu launched the state-of-the-art facility at a teleconference in
the presence of Union Urban Development Minister Ananthkumar, Union
Minister of State for Information Technology Sumithra Mahajan and
Union Minister of State for Rural Development Subash Mukharia.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and chairman of the
Eenadu group of publications Ramoji Rao interacted with the select
gathering through video conferencing.

Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Sushma Swaraj, in a
recorded message delivered through teleconference, said that private-
public co-operation in the IT sector would be extended to other parts
of the country.

The novel venture, an initiative of the Swarna Bharat Trust, an NGO,
envisaged as an IT convergent hub, would make available a range of
applications and services like telemedicine, entertainment,
