AIOU to begin online programmes

ISLAMABAD – For the forthcoming educational year, AIOU will start 
some particular programmes of information technology through Internet 
and thus the University will enter in the era of "Online Education", 
said Dr Syed Altaf Hussain, Vice Chancellor (AIOU). “The Allama Iqbal 
Open University (AIOU), is utilising all the means of communications 
for spreading the quality education from preliminary to high level in 
each disciplines, “ he added. He made these comments while addressing 
a lecture on "Wireless Communication-New Trends & Application for 
Distance Learning", by Pakistani Communication Engineer, Dr Junaidul 
Islam, here on Sunday. The lecture was arranged by the Department of 
Computer Science, AIOU, to introduce its students from the changed 
demands in the communication system. “Allama Iqbal Open University is 
applying its full efforts for spreading quality education indifferent 
fields including general education and Computer Science and 
Information Technology etc,” Dr Altaf added. Dr Altaf Hussain said 
that all the open universities in the world are facilitating from the 
modern communication sources including Internet, satellite and video 
conference while AIOU have an effective and strong network in every 
nook and corner of the country. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Junaidul 
Islam highlighted the wireless communication, its utilisation and its 
application for distance learning system. Through wireless 
communication the sending of safe message can be very effective. 
Chairman, Department of Computer Sciences, Dr Nazir A Sangi said that 
quality of education in each level and approaches is very necessary 
for people living in the far flung area.
