Subject: Web resource for Asian films
This is to announce the following web site specifically for the study
of Asian films: http://www.asianfilms.org This is an ongoing project
supervised by the Asia Pacific Media Center at the Annenberg Center
for Communication at the University of Southern California. The
current site has already included rich information about Asian
cinemas, especially films from China, India, Korea, Japan, and
Taiwan. It will include a database in the future. Here is what the
front page reads:
Film is a communications tool of the 20th century, and the Internet
is a communications tool of the 21st century. Together, these two
media create a powerful tool for making connections among diverse
people and cultures of the world.
Asian Film Connections seeks to create a deeper awareness and
understanding of Asian cinema by providing immediate and
comprehensive information about films from Asia, especially the
cinemas of China, India, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan.
Asian Film Connections promises to revolutionize international access
to culturally significant films from Asia. It is also an important
resource for the film industry, educational institutions and
international media.
