[India] Network Solutions to set up e-commerce concept centre

Network Solutions to set up e-commerce concept centre

R Subramanyam
BANGALORE 19 JULY

BANGALORE-based Network Solutions, an enterprise-wide network
integration company is setting up an e-commerce proof of concept
centre.

"With e-commerce increasingly becoming the buzz word, there is a
whole lot of confusion on e-commerce products and service offerings
and implementation strategies to be adopted.

"The proof of concept centre will address these issues," said Mr
Vijay R Mysore, director, worldwide business development, Network
Solutions.

Besides a range of e-commerce solutions from the Germany-based
Netlife, whose products are distributed in the country by Network
Solutions, the centre will showcase e-commerce applications developed
by its partner companies. "Investing in an e-commerce infrastructure
is expensive. Customers can use the infrastructure at our centre to
get a feel of how e-commerce solutions can work and benefit them,
before committing their resources on setting up their
infrastructure," he said.

Parallely, Network Solutions strategy, said Mr Mysore is to set up a
portal site, which companies can use to conduct their e- commerce
business.

"It will not be a portal in the real sense like Yahoo and others. Our
portal will provide support mechanism such as secure payment
infrastructure. It will also offer applications, like for instance a
brokerage application, which can be outsourced."

The company is in talks with banks and credit card providers to
create a payment gateway for its portal. "Apart from companies,
Internet service providers can also use our portal to offer e-
commerce services to their customers," he added.

Network Solutions will offer products, hosting, consultancy and
implementation services for e-commerce. It is also exploring the
possibilities of offering its portal as a value added service to
ISP's who can then co-brand it. It plans to use content and service
providers as its distributors to bring customers to its portal site.
Mr Mysore said that Network Solutions will use its Q Link service to
enable companies to be e-commerce ready. Network Solutions' Q Link is
a set of tools and services that helps companies link their legacy
applications residing to disparate networks to the Internet.
