this is a bit tricky question, as it is easier to answer how many countries
have FULL internet access. there are countries with partial connectivity,
BITNET and FIDONET connectivity, etc. the International E-mail
Accessibility web page [http://www.nsrc.org/codes/country-codes.html] is an
excellent resource that answers many questions on this issue. it is updated
regularly.

here is a list, derived from the above mentioned page, of countries that do
NOT have FULL internet connectivity; or have PROVISIONAL internet
connectivity; or have a "courtesy" top-level domain (TLD), which means that
there is no "physical access as such"; or just have UUCP and/or FIDONET
connectivity.

please refer to the original list for footnotes and more detail. also refer
to "Where to find further information"
[http://www.nsrc.org/codes/bymap/notes.html#whereto] on the same website.

as has been pointed out in a recent report by the Human Rights Watch
[http://www.hrw.org/advocacy/internet/mena/index.htm], access cost is also
a factor that determines connectivity in the real sense of the word.
