Satyam Infoway launches frame relay service

SATYAM Infoway Ltd, the country's first private Internet Service 
Provider (ISP) and e-commerce player, announced on Thursday the 
launch of `ExpressFrame@Satyam', a frame relay service off an ATM 
(asynchronous transfer mode) backbone network. 

ExpressFrame@Satyam is a platform for businesses to run mission-
critical applications like SAP, BaaN, Oracle and other ERPs, 
Intranets, database applications between locations at performance 
levels better than any other network service in the country, the 
company claimed. 

The service will enable businesses to seamlessly interconnect their 
nation-wide offices with speed and performance guarantees, tailored 
to suit their individual requirements. A Srinivasgopalan, vice-
president, Satyam Infoway told reporters in Chennai that the service 
provides customers the flexibility of choosing the required 
bandwidth, depending upon the application requirements, with 
committed information rates provided from end-to-end. It also enables 
customers to have their own permanent virtual circuits. According to 
him, the international demand for frame relay services is growing 
rapidly with a 50 per cent increase in customer base in 1998.
