UNDP-APDIP launches Open Source Portal
UNDP-APDIP today launched its portal for Free and Open Source Software
(FOSS). FOSS refers to applications and operating systems whose source codes
are open for other parties to review and refine. This portal is part of
UNDP-APDIP's effort to network FOSS practitioners, researchers, users, and
advocates in Asia-Pacific, so that regional resources and capacities will be
better known and available to all. Earlier this year, UNDP-APDIP launched
the International Open Source Network
(IOSN), which serves as a Centre of Excellence on Open Source technologies
and applications. IOSN will support and host activities, including
development of needed toolkits, R&D, localization, capacity building, and
training, across Asia-Pacific. People interested in joining the efforts of
IOSN are invited to visit and register at www.iosn.net
