I really wish people could stop using the phrases PI and PA when talking about IPv6.

Why?

Mainly because it make people think that Everybody that request a piece of IP addresses and move it around and announce it wherever they want it. With IPv4 the numbers aren´t that large, compare that to IPv6 where we have some ^bignumber more of space to waste.

I don´t see any reason why implementing PI in IPv6 at all.

This seems to be at odds with the way policies have been developing within the various RIRs, e.g., <http://www.apnic.net/docs/policy/proposals/prop-035-v002.html>, <http://www.ripe.net/ripe/policies/proposals/2006-01.html>, <http://www.arin.net/policy/proposals/2005_1.html>, and <http://www.afrinic.net/docs/policies/afpol-v60604.htm>.

sad is my only comment to that.

Larger corp should be able to get a IPv6 block and if it´s not possible, change the policies so it become possible.

Of course, somebody will need to define "larger".

those willing to pay a fee, do some paperwork but most important, can _justify_ the address space! No need to look at large, just the justify the _usage_ part of it.

And we just move problems with us to IPv6 from IPV4 instead of solve the basic problem,

Yes, we are.

everyone want IP space but not everyone can get it, we need to find a common place in the middle somewhere.

PI will not be the solution.

Without a way of allowing provider independence, I suspect NAT will be the solution.

As long as people think connectivity in terms of "I control this netblock and I can move it to whatever other ISP I want without renumbering internaly" we will have this problem.

I can´t see other solution to the basic problem than to remove the view of IP addresses away from the end-user and over to the ISP. Make end-users care more about connectivity than the above "I control this ..." way of thinking.

How to do that, well, one option are the ISPs, they should take the challenge of selling connectivity so well that end-users don´t care about IP addresses. And still help the end-users that can justify having their own address space to get it...
