So what would your proposal be, then?
To clarify my point of views:
- I think the current proposed policy is better than what was there
before, so it should be accepted as "next interim policy" (with a
strong emphasis on "interim"). I don't think it's perfect.
- I see a strong need for a policy that permits "reasonable LIRs", no
matter what size, to get an allocation
- and I see a need to keep "smallish" end sites from announcing their
address space to the world, to avoid the complete and unstoppable
routing table explosion (so I think they should not get an allocation,
as there is no "regional aggregation point" for RIR allocations)
- as for "big end sites" (Cisco), I have a problem with defining criteria,
but I can see their argument - for me, giving everbody with an AS number
under 500 a /32 would be just fine :-) - but that's unreasonable.
