The 2002:<IPv4>:0000 escape and encapsulation technique was never part
of IPv6. It was added when people saw that the IPv8 Architecture was going
to prevail. I could tell you the inside story on how or why things got named
with silly names, but it is probably not of interest. The bottom line is
that
Microsoft has added the special 2002 trigger and people now have it on
their desk-tops. We now have an opportunity to build a Next Generation
Internet, and route around all the people who have artificially limited the
Internet resources.
Regarding your comments about always needing an IPv4 address, that is
not the case for native (direct) routing of IPv8-addressed sub-nets. Our
persistent bits are in the right-most 64 bits. The left-most 64-bits are
always
considered temporary. ISPs do not want to renumber. They can ensure their
futures using the right-most 64-bits in the AAAA DNS records.

Stay tuned for the X-Box to hit this holiday season from Microsoft. The
world will become more focused on 3D and move quickly beyond the
current "toy" IPv4 Internet which eventually can be turned off once all
of the traffic is native.
As for IPv16, that is the real flag-ship. People can visit Mars to work on
that.
