Hi everyone,
FYI, as from tomorrow's posting, I've added more information to the daily
report.
I list the size of the routing table after removal of all the subnets of
announced prefixes - this isn't completely realistic as it takes no account
of origin AS, but is an interesting number nonetheless. (Heading: Unique
aggregates)
I also list the size of the routing table after per-AS aggregation is
carried out. Some ASes deaggregate for traffic engineering purposes (those
generally show a little de-aggregation) while others are doing it because
of configuration errors or oversights. (Heading: Maximum Aggregation)
Tonight's run produced:
BGP routing table entries examined: 107595
Prefixes after maximum aggregation: 71879
Unique aggregates announced to Internet: 51902
FYI2, I fixed a serious bug in counting the size of announced address
space. I knew about it for a few months, but didn't have time to do the
repair until this rainy weekend in Brisbane. This is why the amount of
announced address space has dropped in the last few days.
Enjoy...!
