Why I Am Participating in the ORSN Project By Paul
Vixie
As a long time supporter of the universal namespace
operated by IANA, it may come as a surprise that I
have joined the Open Root Server Network project
(ORSN). I'll try to explain what's going on and what
it all means.

Love and kisses, .XXX
Have you heard? There?s naughty pictures on the web.
Sssh. It?s a secret. But don?t worry, Richard Cobbett
has a plan to stop caring! Really, it?s surprising
it?s taken this long for a dedicated .xxx domain to
slip its way onto the web ? a central holding place
for all the filth and depravity that everyone looks
down on, but always seems just that little bit too
well informed about to get away with it. It?s
surprising, because they?ve been talking about it for
as long as I?ve been on the web (these two things, I
should point out, have nothing to do with each other),
but mostly because it?s such a stupid idea.

CDT Calls for 'Hands-Off' Approach to '.XXX' Internet
Domain
CDT is urging the U.S. Government to remove itself
from the decision-making process surrounding the
creation of a .xxx Internet domain. In a letter to
Michael Gallagher, Assistant Commerce Secretary and
head of the National Telecommunications and
Information Administration (NTIA), CDT highlights
concerns about NTIA's recent letter to ICANN Chairman
Vinton Cerf, recommending that he delay the approval
of a .xxx Internet domain intended for use by
adult-content Web sites. CDT is concerned that the
move violates First Amendment protections and could
also upset the United States' delicate relationship
with the Internet's addressing system. September 30,
2005

ITU's role shrinking?
If you believe this picture taken at the PrepCom
