The Department of Internal Affairs is moving to

Reporters Without Borders condemns a new directive
from Vietnam's ruling communist party aimed at
tightening controls on cyber-cafés and online
journalists. From 30 July, cyber-café owners will have
to check the identity of customers and prevent them

will also have to take a course to learn how to
"monitor" their customers better.

UK Cops Tackle Terrorism Online
The UK's Association of Chief Police Officers has
requested new legislation to provide security services
with the "powers to attack identified Web sites." The
proposal, as well as one for a new offence involving
the "use of the Internet to prepare, encourage,
facilitate acts of terrorism" was part of the
projected terror law initiatives presented by ACPO at
the Prime Minister's meeting with law enforcement
agencies last Thursday.

us: Study Shows Problems with Internet Pornography
A new report shows an increase in the number of
children accessing pornography online. The Washington
D.C. based group, Third Way, has concluded that
children ages, 12 to 17 years-old, are being targeted
by online pornographers. The group found that online
websites will include common words on pornographic
sites, to lure young viewers. In order to fight the
growing problem, resources are becoming more available
to parents and educators to keep kids safe from
adult-only internet sites.
