us: Bullies acting out on the Web
You're ugly. You're fat. You're a liar. Such childhood
insults, once relegated to the schoolyard, have begun
to emerge in what experts say is a new, even more
insidious venue: the Internet. Simple taunts like
"you're ugly" can quickly be magnified through
e-mails, instant messages, personal Web sites and chat
rooms for thousands to see.

Unlawful, unworkable, unnecessary
The retention of internet records would not stop
terrorist attacks: 'Our values will long outlast
theirs" is a powerful proclamation against terrorism
with which the government should be rightly pleased.
But whether Tony Blair's words are anything more than
a catchy slogan will be put to the test today when
Charles Clarke meets his European counterparts in
Brussels to thrash out a response to the London
bombings.
