New Council of Europe response to the regulatory challenges

On 28 May 2003, the Committee of Ministers of the Council
of Europe adopted a Declaration on freedom of communication

The main objective is to strike a balance between freedom

pornography while a quarter have received unwanted sexual
comments, a study has revealed. The National Centre for

Journalist Xu Wei goes on hunger strike to protest 10-year

journalist Xu Wei began a hunger strike to protest against
the verdicts handed down by a Beijing court against himself
and his three friends, Jin Haike, Yang Zili and Zhang
Honghai, who like him have been detained since March 2001
on a charge of "subverting the state's authority." The

The Berkman Center's Internet Law Program is headed west
this summer. The program, presented in conjunction with

Most e-mail is now spam
Two spam filtering companies yesterday released figures
showing that over half the e-mails sent in May were
