Online Knowledge Networks conference in Adelaide next year. It's
aimed at those who are interested in the future direction of
learning, education and training networks, this conference in

The Global Summit of Online Knowledge (Education and Training)
Networks, to be held in Adelaide, Australia on 4 and 5 March 2002,
will bring together leaders, specialists and policy makers from
Australia and around the world to share experiences and explore
future directions in the development and management of online
learning, education and training networks.
Hosted and organised by education.au limited, this event provides an
opportunity to showcase best practice in networked online learning,
education and training initiatives, and strengthen national and
international alliances.
education.au limited is a non-profit company limited by guarantee and
owned by the Australian education and training Ministers. The
business of the company is to facilitate, build and manage national
education networks supported by distributed online information
services for schools, vocational education and training and
universities. The company does this through the use of collaborative,
national processes utilising information and communications
technologies, and through the formation of international alliances
with similar nationally-sponsored government organisations.
The foundation online service managed by education.au limited is
EdNA Online. EdNA Online provides access to quality educational
resources, services and Internet tools. education.au limited is also
building the government education portal, focused on government
information services, and a National Career Information System. It is
also in the preparation stages, in a joint venture with Curriculum
Corporation, for the development of a major national service, which
delivers online curriculum content for schools as part of the Backing
Australia's Ability policy announcement by the Federal Government of
Australia.

The Global Summit is associated with, and follows, the World Congress
on Information Technology 2002 (WCIT 2002) to be held at the Adelaide
Convention Centre on 27, 28 February and 1 March.
A $200 reduction in registration fees for WCIT2002 is available to
Global Summit delegates.
The Global Summit will also coincide with a series of international
learning, education and training ICT standards meetings to be held
over six days commencing on 3 March.
Who will participate
Places at the two-day conference and associated activities will be
limited to 300 invited participants representing leaders, specialists
and policy makers from Australian States and Territories and
countries with online learning, education and training networks, as
well as representatives from associated alliances.
All education and training communities throughout the world with an
interest in online learning will be invited to participate in the
online forum.
Call for papers
Proposals for papers are now being sought. Papers should address and
focus on the future of Internet use in learning, education and
training, together with emerging issues and trends that are likely to
impact on the development and management of knowledge networks.
The following topics are currently under consideration:

„h ¡P Professional development of educators and trainers
„h ¡P Working collaboratively
Proposals for papers should include a short description (300 words)
plus biographical details and should be sent by fax, mail or email to
education.au limited before 14 December 2001.
Selected papers will be published online.
Please indicate in your proposal if you would also like to be a
presenter at the conference.
Accepted presenters may be offered subsidised air travel,
accommodation and conference registration fees.
