Tackling harmful content on the Internet (E-PING!)
The European Parliamentarians' Internet Group is holding a meeting
from 6.30 - 8.00 p.m. on 10 October 2001 in Room 1E1, European
Parliament, Brussels.
Speakers: "European Commission initiatives in the field of child
pornography" Luigi Soreca (DG Justice and Home Affairs, European
Commission), Richard Swetenham (DG Information Society, European
Commission);
"Child protection on the Internet", Ann Davison - Economic and Social
Committee Rapporteur on a programme for child protection on the
Internet;
"How can content rating protect against harmful content?",
Ola-Kristian Hoff - Internet Content Rating Association Director,
Europe;
"How should children be protected online?", Nigel Williams - Childnet
International.
Following the presentations, there will be an open discussion of the
issues raised by the speakers.
Attendees wishing to attend but who do not have an access card for
the Parliament are requested to send an e-mail to
secretariat@eping.org as early as possible before the event.

Information Day & Financing Possibilities for Digital Content
The European Commission invites you to attend the eContent

session "Information Day & Financing Possibilities for Digital
Content" at
the Frankfurt Book Fair, Europaroom Hall 4-0, 10 October,
15.00-17.00.
At the event representatives of the European Commission will give an
overview of activities and financing possibilities in the field of
digital
content. In addition, participants can get practical and useful
information
about the eContent Programme's forthcoming call for proposals on
digital
content on global networks, to be launched 1st November next. The
call's
total fund is in the order of EUR 30 million.
Speakers representing key industry players and research, will address
digital content and services for the emerging 3G mobile platform,
which is
one of the call's key themes.
By attending you will get a clear picture of Europe's challenges,
opportunities and actions at the digital content arena, and the
possibility
to get funding for your European project.
