Internet Resource Management Essentials (IRME)

The Internet resource management essentials tutorial is designed to introduce, highlight and explain of the key essentials of Internet resource management. It focuses on understanding the structures, processes, procedures and policies involved in requesting, allocating and managing Internet addresses (IPv4 and IPv6) and AS numbers. It is targeted at IT professionals responsible for administering and managing Internet resources, including IP managers, senior hostmasters and network engineers. Some understanding of networking fundamentals is assumed. The course includes aspects of APNIC IP request and allocation management, APNIC policies and procedures and the APNIC Whois Database.

IPv6 Workshop

This course provides:

  • An understanding of IPv6, its structure, operation, and technical features
  • A detailed discussion of IPv6 addressing and architecture
  • An investigation of the issues related to the deployment of IPv6
  • An examination of the transition from and its co-existence with IPv4
  • IPv6 configuration details
  • A demonstration of IPv6 on host computers
  • Instruction on how to build and configure an IPv6 network
  • A discussion of IPv6 policy and address allocation criteria
  • Consideration of the issues and perspectives related the current deployment status of IPv6
