Sanjaya is the APNIC Services Director and a member of the APNIC Executive Team.

He has 28 years experience in computer and information technology, starting his career in 1984 with IBM, Indonesia. Ten years later, in 1994, he established the first commercial ISP in Indonesia, IndoInternet, and became its President Director until 2000. He was actively involved with the development of the Internet in the region and became the Indonesia ISP Association Secretary General in 1999. He also served as a member of the APNIC Executive Council in 1996.

In 2001, Sanjaya and his family moved to Brisbane, where he joined APNIC undertaking various roles within the technical and services areas. His main challenge as APNIC's Services Director is to maintain a fair and responsible management of IP addresses and AS numbers distribution to the Asia Pacific Region, despite the upcoming IPv4 and two-byte ASN exhaustion.

Current Position and Activities

Sanjaya is currently the Services Director at the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) and a member of the APNIC Executive Team. He manages the Member Services, Resource Services, and Project Management Units and brings to the role 27 years experience in information and computer technology.

Sanjaya joined APNIC in 2001 as Project Manager for the successful design and deployment of MyAPNIC, including the implementation and management of the APNIC Certification Authority. He is also actively involved in Internet industry standard and policy development and has authored numerous policy proposals that have been approved by the APNIC community.

Previous Positions

Between 1999-2001, Sanjaya was the Secretary General for the APJII (Association of Indonesia Internet Service Providers). Here he oversaw the establishment of IDNIC (country top-level domain ID) and the Indonesia Internet Exchange (IIX).

Between 1994-2000, as President Director of PT IndoInternet and since 2000, its Commissioner, Sanjaya established the first ISP in Indonesia. He oversaw market and network operations growth to over 25 cities within Indonesia and successfully oversaw the growth of the company to over 80 employees in 6 years.

From 1994-1996, he was the IT Systems Development and Implementation Project Manager for PT Bank Bali and here he successfully implemented the first international debit card (Maestro) operation in Indonesia.

Between 1984-1994 Sanjaya worked as an Application Support Manager for IBM, Indonesia and has, throughout his career worked in various Business Advisory roles.
