APNIC's role in IPv6 Deployment
The Asia Pacific community expects APNIC to take a leadership role in the challenge to address the issues involved in IPv4 exhaustion and IPv6 deployment.
While APNIC cannot actively participate in specific deployments on behalf of Member organizations, it does play a significant role in the introduction of IPv6 in the Asia Pacific and globally.
| Education | The APNIC membership has asked the organization to play an active role in creating awareness of IPv6 and the issues surrounding IPv4 exhaustion.
|
|---|---|
| Distribution | Assign and allocate IPv6 address space.
|
| Act as an information source | APNIC will provide accurate and impartial research, information, and training on IPv6 deployment.
|
| Facilitator | APNIC is in the unique position to act as a facilitator of multi-stakeholder discussion and information sharing with the entire community in the Asia Pacific region. Part of this discussion is the development of new policies specifically related to IPv6 addresses.
